We all scream for Ice Cream!

Thanks to Greater's Ice Cream for sending me some ice cream samples!

We are ice cream snobs at our home.  Life is too short to see bad ice cream!  If we are going to eat ice cream it's the good stuff and Greater's is the good stuff!  

We are hoping that summer is going to arrive here in the mid-west.  I mean after 6 months living in the polar vortex and then so far all spring it has rained (we are getting ready to build an arc!) we need some thing to make us think of better days... Greater's ice cream is just that!  

We got to try their new flavors: 

All were excellent- but my favorite was  Carmel Truffle followed closely by the dark Chocolate Truffle!   

What is the difference between ice cream and Gelato?  A quick run down- it comes down to 3 things: Fat, air, serving temperature:
Gelato is made with more milk and less cream so it is usually less fat
Ice cream is churned faster so there is more air in it making it more "fluffy" and the Gelato is thicker and (sometimes) more flavorful
Ice cream is best served at 10 degrees Fahrenheit and Gelato is best served a little warmer like 20-25 degrees Fahrenheit.

Oh yum, love me some ice cream, winter or summer or whenever. We go to Burger King for their cones, it's the highlight of my evening. We live about 7 miles from Burger King so it's like a little get away for few minutes anyway. Go for little ride.
We don't have Graeters ice cream here, we live about 18 miles west of Grand Junction, CO. Enjoy some real ice cream for me ok? Happy days
