My Ribbon Barrette Maker review and GIVEAWAY

***Giveaway  Closed!***

This is a Sponsored post written by me (Jeannine) on behalf of My Ribbon Barrette Maker. All opinions are 100% mine.

My daughters are 5 and 6 years old. They are at an age where they are constantly wanting to "do something." They want to do something more exciting than coloring in their same-old coloring books, but with two busy toddlers under foot, it's hard to for me to delve into really complicated craft projects with them. Enter My Ribbon Barrette Maker from the makers of My Friendship Bracelet Maker.

Remember ribbon barrettes from grade school? What a flash back! Turns out you can make these yourself (I never knew). AND it's easy for little fingers with this kit. My Ribbon Barrette Maker comes with all the materials you need to make about 8 barrettes, including this handy ribbon loom for holding the barrette and ribbons in place while you weave. I imagine that an adult could make these without the loom (though it would take concentration), but for the kids, it was necessary to use it. The little "fingers" on the side hold the ribbons in place while you weave them over and under the barrette. My 5-year-old surprised me and caught on right away. My 6-year-old needed a little more encouragement, but by the time she finished the first one she was a pro. They definitely needed help stringing the beads onto the ribbons at the end, but the barrettes turned out adorable, and the girls love wearing them to school.

My Ribbon Barrette Maker is a wonderful tool that children can use over and over again. The supplies are relatively inexpensive - barrettes, ribbons, and beads. And you only have to buy the loom once, and you have it forever. Ribbon barrettes would also make great holiday gifts for those special little girls in your life!

My Friendship Bracelet Maker is giving away a My Ribbon Barrette Maker to one lucky Fireflies and Jellybeans reader!

To enter the giveway, you must be a F&J follower AND leave a comment letting us know what color barrettes you will make if you win, or if you were a wearer of the 1st generation of ribbon barrettes (from the 80's), let us know your favorite 80's song (we LOVE 80's music!!)

Oh, how fun! I remember making those in the 80's, but this looks much easier than how my sisters and I did it. I would say my favorite 80's song is "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun" by Cyndi Lauper. I still love listening to her album. Thanks for the memory flashback!!

I have been wanting to make some of these with my 7yo niece. The first set we wold make would be maroon and gold since those are her school colors. Then we would make a green and blue pair because those are her favorite colors.

My favorite song from the 80s is Wild Wild West by Escape Club. It is on my iPod so that I can still listen to it,

THESE ARE WONDERFUL!!! i remember making these many many years ago. i am now a mother of all daughters. I also have RSD which is a chronic pain nerve desease, so i don't get to teach these things to my daughters anymore. they have been trying to master the art of the bracelets. I liked and friended all 3 (ffjb, bracelets & barrettes). if i don't win is there a place i can buy these at after the beginning of the new year?? my favorite 80's song is "shout, shout, let it all out, these are the things i can do without, come on, listen to me, come on....." i know they would make many in their school colors and for their friends for the holidays. i have tried to teach them what i can by words and wonderful sites like these that show them the tutes. Thank you for your consideration.

Your description of your daughters is dead on for my youngest niece; she always wants to "make something." She gets a big kick out of making cakes with one of her other aunties, and she loves the Klutz books this auntie gets for her. We are definitely looking at another good Christmas present here. Thanks for the giveaway and the chance to win!

I would make purple and gold barrettes! I was totally an original model of the ribbon barrettes :o) I don't think there is any 80's song I don't like!
