Hi Everyone! I'm Sharla from My Little Gems. I am really excited to be posting here at Fireflies and Jellybeans! So here I go:

My Little Gems

I have a fun little blog I started about 2 years ago, called My Little Gems. I originally started blogging just to share the things I was grateful for. The more I blogged, the more I realized that the things I enjoyed doing were the things that I was grateful for. Thus, I started My Little Gems. My focus can be summed up as Home. Family. Creations. Treasures...and of course DIY... many of those things are focused on boys- because I have 3 of them.
I have a very supportive husband who makes my crafting/sewing addiction, I mean hobby, possible. I used to post almost everyday, but with the birth of my 3rd son, (who had some complications) it just wasn't possible. Now I post about 2-3 times a week, and try to share things with you that you can do yourself.
Here is a sampling of what you might find at My Little Gems.

Car Cozie Tutorial
from September 2009
Boys love cars, and so here is a way to carry
them and a road to drive them on too.

A few years ago we made a Play mat from a Shower Curtain.
January 2009
I ♥ Dollar Store Crafts and so do my kids.

Love me some great kid crafts and I have quite a few on the blog. Here is one for Mother's Day. Hand print Tulip Card for Mother's Day
May 2009

What little boys wouldn't love to give their cars a car wash?
February 2009
My boys love this! Well they love anything that has to do with cars.
(plus they are cleaning their toys too :))

I love making little wood projects. I made several sets of wooden blocks over the past few years all a little different but since it is spring...here are the Spring Blocks
April 2009

Play Kitchen from an old Nightstand
March 2010
And because my husband is very supportive of my little creating and crafting habit, he helped me make this play kitchen from a nightstand. The boys loved it, even though it was mommy who really wanted one. Can you blame me? I think these are just too cute! We have refinished several pieces of furniture, and still have several more to refinish- thanks to my handyman husband!

I love sewing and pretty fabrics. Every once in a while I stay up late and have a date with my sewing machine. A few weeks ago, I made me a fun tote bag. (tote bag tute coming soon ) Here is one of my boy-themed quilts. I am working on a few more fun boy-themed quilts, currently that I'm really excited about :)

I love some burlap crafts too and all things ABC. So I made some Burlap ABC magnets.
January 2010

Since I love ABC's I had to make a cloth set of ABC's too.

I made a boy-themed quiet book out of place mats. I did a whole week of place mat crafts- all from the Dollar Store. (February 2010

You can find instructions/tutorials for most of these by clicking on their links.

And sometimes I like to post thoughts about the core of it all...motherhood and being a mom. Because when the day is over, it is always good to remember what is really important. And it doesn't matter how many crafts you have made, but how much time you spend trying to be the best mom you can possibly be on that particular day. (because heaven knows some days I would love to sew and craft all day long, and all moms know that somedays are easier than others ☻)

Thanks for letting me stop by and share some of my little gems with you! Please come by and say hi, leave a comment, and have a look around at My Little Gems, become my new blogger bff. :) And a big thanks to Fawnda for letting me invade her fun blog and share what I love☺♥☺..I love all her great crafts and ideas on this little site! And a big thanks to you, Fireflies and Jellybeans readers!
