Thrifty Homemade Halloween Costume: 7

Dorothy and The Scarecrow from The Wizard of Oz:

My Husband and I dressed up as Dorothy and the Scarecrow in 2006. Everything that we wore I already had, which was great!

I wore my jean jumper (I knew I save that for a good reason) and a blue and white gingham shirt. I put my hair in pig tails and use blue and white gingham ribbon. For the Ruby Slippers I covered an old pair of shoes with red felt. I sewed on red sequence to the felt before I hot glued it on. (I got the sequence from a Christmas ornament that I was not going to use any more.) I use my mascara to make freckles on my face. We also had a black lab to act as Toto... her name was Daisy

The Scarecrow:
I hot glued raffia to a sting and tied it around my hubby's head and covered it with a bandanna. I cut off the cuff part to an old pair of socks to create 4 sock bracelets. I hot glued raffia around the 4 cuffs. (One for each hand and each ankle.) I put the raffia sock bracelets on my hubby's wrests and ankles under his flannel shirt and jeans to make it look like straw sticking out. He told me it was itchy, but it turned out pretty good looking! He wouldn't let me put any make-up on his face or I probably would have drawn some stitched on his nose!

Sorry this picture is a bit fuzzy... it is the only one that I have that is a full length. You get the idea though- right?
I loved that we were matching for that year. I wish I had a picture of the 2 of us together... but I don't. Bummer!
